Personal & Professional Impact Series This series of offerings aims to help CWRU staff and faculty learn more about themselves and how they can improve and increase their contribution to the department and the university. Employment Law Essentials for Supervisors: In this course, customized to CWRU policies, participants will learn the essential elements supervisors need to be aware of regarding employment.Įvaluating Performance-Including the Performance Evaluation: In this course, customized to CWRU policies, participants will learn the skills associated with evaluating performance including, proper documentation, providing effective feedback, conducting a performance evaluation, the PCA and the grievance process.

Strategy and Developing Others (DiSC): Managers learn how to provide resources, environments and opportunities that support long-term professional growth, based on DiSC. Participants will practice adapting behavior to align with the motivational needs of others. Creating a Motivating Environment (DiSC): In this course, participants discover how DiSC styles influence the ways in which people are motivated. Directing & Delegating Using DiSC: Building on the first course, participants will apply DiSC in specific situations where they will be asked to provide direction and or delegate to others. This course uses the DiSC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness) methodology to learn about behaviors and effective relationships. Any CWRU staff or faculty who aspires to hold a supervisory or management position in the future Courses: Introduction to Your Management Style (DiSC): Understanding one’s own management style and other’s styles will help in communicating and relating to others more effectively and reduce unproductive conflict.Any CWRU staff or faculty who oversees the work of others.
Individuals who complete all the courses can earn a CWRU Certificate of Management.
Courses are subject to change based on university priorities. This curriculum will incorporate relevant university policies and laws to ensure effective management of the university’s physical, human, financial and information resources. Management Development Series The Management Development Series is designed to develop skills around supervising the work of others at CWRU.
